Here are five details inspired by the South of France to include at your wedding in Provence, France

Rows of lavender that disappear into the horizon. The golden glow of the summer sun. Stone buildings with pastel shutters. And rosé for days.

These are a few of my very favorite things about Provence, France. And it’s beautiful landscape and warm, dreamy light draws couples from around the world for destination weddings.

The region has so much to offer, and planning your destination wedding in Provence gives you the opportunity to incorporate some of its treasures into your wedding day. Here are five details to include in your destination wedding in Provence, France.

      01. Lavender

Let’s start with the obvious, shall we? Because who doesn’t adore the delicate sight and sweet smell of lavender? Provence is known around the world as the home to endless fields of blooming lavender. Incorporating it into your wedding day is a perfect way to celebrate the region. And if you happen to be there while the fields are in bloom, consider choosing a venue with plenty of lavender or request your photographer takes your portraits in the fields.

      02. Olive branches

Along with lavender, the South of France is known for its olive trees. Olive branches are a beautiful, soft green that pair perfectly with pastel colors. Consider adding olive branches to your bouquet, style them with your wedding day details, or add them to your cake.

      03. Antique market finds

Most of the villages in Provence hold markets throughout the week and sell lovely French antiques that add vintage charm and elegance to a wedding day. Old books, gold mirrors, and faded French letters all make beautiful styling pieces. If you can’t antique hunt yourself, you can work with a local planner who may be able to, or consider renting some pieces from a local prop vendor, such as Le Comptoir de Julia.

      04. Locally-sourced wedding favors

As favors for your guests, consider gifting them with a piece of Provence they can take home with them. This could be mini honey jars, herbs, soaps, or even a sweet treat like calissons, which are a Provencal specialty. Une Pinceé de Provence is a local favor vendor with a great selection of beautifully-packaged gifts, like the honey jars pictured below.

      05. Soft, pastel colors that complement the landscape

Provence has its own distinctive aesthetic. When choosing your colors, consider pastels that complement the soft hues of the landscape, lavender, gardens, and architecture. They’ll blend together beautifully and will glow in the golden light.
