We turned off the main road and stopped before a towering gate. Two rows of trees lined the gravel driveway beyond the locked iron. In the distance, we could see a group enjoying their lunch en plein air—the sounds of cutlery and clinking wine glasses floated their way to us. We rang the bell, then proceeded down the driveway through low clouds of dust and the song of summer cicadas. We had arrived at Château Talaud, and its charm had already captivated us.
Situated just north of Avignon in Provence, France, Château Talaud is a luxury bed and breakfast and wedding venue. Thoughtfully restored by owners Conny and Hein, the 18th century estate is a quiet oasis in the heart of Provence.
Here’s how to know if this captivating estate is the best Provence wedding venue for you:
Surrounded by its own vineyards and lush trees, Château Talaud is a private, quiet property that feels secluded and peaceful. For couples wanting to have a venue that feels truly theirs, the château provides that “at-home” feeling. You and your guests can roam the gardens, relax in the courtyard, have breakfast poolside, and enjoy Provence in your own serene space.
The French love en plein air (French for “in the open air”) celebrations, and it’s common for family and friends to gather on the terrace or patio to enjoy their meal outside on a summer evening. Château Talaud is the perfect place to carry this tradition into your wedding day. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception can all be held on the property, and you and your guests can enjoy the fresh Provençal evenings.
With five guests rooms in the château and three luxury apartment rentals on the property, you and your closest friends and family can spend the entire wedding weekend enjoying all Château Talaud has to offer. Enjoy mornings of fresh breakfast, long days spent reading poolside, and lingering at the dinner table for one more glass of wine. Explore Avignon, go antiquing in L’Isle sur la Sorgue, and spend a day roaming the hillside village of Gordes. Then top the weekend off with your grand wedding celebration.
Sincerest thank you to Conny for welcoming me to your beautiful home and property
