Romantic inspiration for a summer destination wedding in Provence, France

Summer in Provence. Those words muster up images of endless blooming lavender fields and shimmering golden light. When Claire of Maison Bounon asked me to photograph this shoot at the height of lavender season, I knew it would be something special. We wanted to create a shoot that captured the classic essence of Provence, while also incorporating fresh details.

The soft, pastel colors complemented the natural palette of Provence. It went beautifully with the lavender, stone buildings, and cypress trees at our venue, Abbaye Saint Eusèbe. The pops gold sparkled in the hazy summer light. Claire also wanted to incorporate the local flare by adding olive branches, lavender, and locally-sourced favors. I love how seamlessly the aesthetic pays tribute to the local Provencal region, while also staying fresh and romantic.

We created a fictional narrative to inspire every fine detail of this shoot. It’s the story of Anne and James—two people from different parts of the world who met and fell in love in Provence. Their wedding blends their American and British cultures, while also reflecting the place where their love story began.

This shoot celebrates the essence of summer in Provence, and it’s full of inspiration for any couple planning their destination wedding in the South of France.
